Are You a Gun-Friendly Lawyer?
By Keith Jones
GRNC lawyer referral service
GRNC is often asked for the names of lawyers friendly to gun ownership to assist members in legal difficulties. We are certainly aware -- as many of you are -- that there are a number of attorneys who believe in the Second Amendment and quite a few of them are fellow gun owners. The trick, of course, when trouble arises is finding one of them. No one likes the idea of entrusting their gun owning future to a barrister who is hostile to this most important right.
With this in mind, GRNC is putting out a call for attorneys who wish to be included in the GRNC Lawyer Referral Service. This service will be free and administered at the sole discretion of GRNC. Inclusion will result from agreement between GRNC and the individual and removal will result from the decision of either party.

Ronald J. Shook II, Ron is a ferocious supporter of the Second Amendment. He has twice sued Sheriff Garry McFadden on behalf of GRNC for his unconstitutional treatment of gun permitting in Mecklenburg County. Ron is a lifetime member of GRNC, and he is licensed to practice in all NC State and Federal Courts. He has helped people all over the state to restore their gun rights, and he frequently represents individuals on appeal for denial of a concealed handgun permit. Ron has proven that he is the "go-to" guy when it comes to gun rights in North Carolina. If you are looking to restore your gun rights after a felony conviction, or involuntary commitment, or you have been wrongly denied a concealed handgun permit or firearm purchase, Ron can help!

Mark Edwards, I am originally from Mt. Airy, NC. I graduated from UNC in 1982 and in 1985 I graduated from the UNC School of Law. I passed the FL bar and worked initially as an assistant public defender in Martin County, FL. I tried mostly serious felony cases while a PD.
In December 1990, I moved back to NC and took a position as an assistant public defender in Durham. After a few months on the job, I was promoted to Chief Assistant of the office. I have tried well over 100 serious felony cases to verdict in state and federal court. I have been on teams of attorneys who have gotten three men off death row in NC. I won a federal criminal appeal in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond.
I entered private practice in December 1993. My practice is approximately 95% state and federal criminal defense (I also handle traffic matters and an occasional personal injury case). I am Board Certified Specialist in State and Federal Criminal Law and have been so since November 1993. PO Box 51295, Durham, NC 27717, (919) 688-9555

Keith’s life experiences have molded into him a heartfelt reverence for the fundamental rights belonging to every human, the idea that government is a covenant rather than a conquest, and the right and responsibility of self and family preservation. His latest professional horizon is in federal court. He is learning how to defend clients from prosecutions brought by the United States government.
