As I\nnoted to those attending, 2024 was GRNC\u2019s 30th<\/sup>\nAnniversary \u2013 30 years of kicking tail for gun owners<\/b><\/u>\nin the NC General Assembly and Congress.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nGRNC\n2025-26 legislative agenda<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nIn\nthe NC House, there\u2019s a new Speaker in town (so to speak). Over 4\nterms, Representative Destin Hall<\/b><\/u> <\/b>has a 98% GRNC\nsurvey score, a 100% pro-gun voting record, and 96% in GRNC\u2019s bill\nsupport measure used to evaluate bill sponsors and leadership.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nSo,\nthe question becomes whether Rep. Hall will continue his excellent\ngun rights record as Speaker of the House. Placed in leadership\npositions, most politicians don\u2019t.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nTo\nthose who say GRNC can\u2019t pass constitutional carry because the NC\nHouse is short one vote from the 6\/10 supermajority to override\nGovernor Josh Stein\u2019s inevitable veto, I would point out that we\nwere also one seat shy when we passed the purchase permits repeal.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nGRNC\u2019s\n2025-2026 legislative agenda:<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\tPass\n\tconstitutional carry<\/b><\/u>: GRNC is working with Rep. Keith\n\tKidwell<\/b> to introduce a clean constitutional carry bill, free of\n\tweakening provisions required by then-Speaker Tim Moore. <\/font><\/font>\n\t<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\tProtect\n\tconcealed carry applicants\u2019 private medical information<\/b><\/u>:\n\tMecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden is reportedly misusing the\n\tmedical record release signed by CHP applicants to go on fishing\n\texpeditions for private medical information such as whether the\n\tapplicant has children, or has had an abortion or STD, even using\n\tsuch things to reject applicants. Having sued and won against\n\tMcFadden twice, GRNC will now seek redress in lawmaking.<\/font><\/font><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\tClose\n\tthe statewide firearm preemption loophole<\/b><\/u>: Development is\n\tcrowding out areas where gun owners have traditionally been able to\n\tshoot. GRNC will advocate options restricting local governments from\n\tenacting discharge bans or other ordinances that encroach on gun\n\trights.<\/font><\/font><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\tReverse\n\tunconstitutional ATF rules<\/b><\/u>: ATF has enacted rules making\n\tmost, if not all, braced AR-type pistols into tightly regulated\n\tshort-barreled rifles, even defying court orders to do so.\n\tSimilarly, a recent ATF rule all but prohibits lawful private gun\n\tsales. GRNC will be pushing President Donald Trump and the\n\tRepublican Congress to reverse those rules<\/b><\/u>.<\/font><\/font><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\tPrevent\n\tstate officials from patronizing anti-gun banks<\/b><\/u>: North\n\tCarolinians should have protections against anti-gun financial\n\tinstitutions as do Louisiana, Texas, and South Dakota.<\/font><\/font><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<br\/>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nGRNC\nlegislative action<\/b><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nWe\nwill need to turn up the heat on politicians<\/b><\/u>,\nparticularly the handful of Democrats who have occasionally crossed\nthe aisle to vote with Republicans. That requires money to flood\ntheir districts with mail, text messaging and phone alerts.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<br\/>\n\n<\/p>\nUnfortunately,\nthat is money which, right now, we don\u2019t have. Why?
