CAUSES FOR CONCERN, KUDOS & CELEBRATION

A lot has been happening in Washington the last few weeks, and below you’ll find the important details about all of these gun rights matters. One of the items is cause for serious concern, but the others are cause for optimism and celebration.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH LORETTA LYNCH?

Quite a Bit, Actually

U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch, President Obama’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, does not respect this country’s laws. For instance, Lynch believes that the President Obama’s executive dictates, including his recent amnesty order for illegal aliens, are entirely legitimate and non-controversial.

In another example, Lynch was involved in the 2012 settlement that absolved HSBC (a British banking company) for money laundering performed on behalf of terrorists, drug dealers, the Mexican cartels and Iran. Many have called this a slap on the wrist, particularly because Lynch didn't fully investigate the crimes involved.

Lynch has also exhibited what might be best described as “feigned cluelessness” in the matter of insidious IRS-targeting. She claims to be only “generally aware” of the IRS’s focused effort to intimidate conservative groups. Whether her lack of knowledge is indeed feigned, or true ignorance, it is not indicative of someone fit for such high office.

There is little record on Lynch's position regarding gun control, but if her take on rogue executive actions, her history cosseting terrorist groups and drug cartels, and her limited knowledge of well-publicized, law-related current events are any indication of what we can expect on other issues, the danger of an “Attorney General Loretta Lynch” is clear.

It's safe to assume that with Holder gone, Lynch would simply represent more of the same: gun registration schemes, sweetheart deals for criminals, interference with lawful commerce, exotic, unconstitutional executive orders, and so on.

It's important to inform North Carolina’s Senators, Richard Burr and Thom Tillis, that because of her lack of Constitutional principle and her overall contempt for the law, you appreciate their ‘no’ vote against the confirmation of Loretta Lynch for Attorney General. Considering her record, and the danger she would pose to gun rights and other freedom-related issues, she is not an acceptable choice for that post.

Below, under “Immediate Action Required,” see how you can easily contact your senators and thank them for taking the appropriate stance on the Lynch confirmation.

McHENRY STEPS UP TO DEFEND GUN RIGHTS

As shamed BATFE Director B. Todd Jones sidles toward the exit, some anti-gun representatives in Congress are actually pushing legislation to continue Jones’ foiled anti-Second Amendment efforts. Thankfully, Representative Patrick McHenry (NC-10) has introduced a bill of his own. The “Ammunition and Firearms Protection Act.”

Rep. McHenry’s bill would keep the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) from infringing on the Second Amendment by restraining the agency from acting outside its legitimate authority. The agency recently tried to do just that with a unilateral, bureaucratic ammunition ban. Fortunately, gun rights supporters like you put a stop to this with a groundswell of criticism, which shed light on the agency’s devious power grab.

Congressman McHenry deserves thanks and encouragement for his willingness to take action to protect your rights. Below, under ‘Immediate Action Required,’ see how you can easily send a message to the Congressman so he knows his efforts are appreciated, and encourage him to continue to pursue the “Ammunition and Firearms Protection Act.”

GRNC WINS ANOTHER ONE!

The BATFE’s ‘Dr. Jones’

Not all that long ago, when someone mentioned “Dr. Jones,” they were most likely referring to someone who carried a whip, a revolver and wore a dusty fedora; someone who risked life and limb to thwart gun-grabbing socialist types. How times have changed.

The BATFE’s “Dr. Jones,” Director B. Todd Jones, hand-picked by President Obama, is no “Indy.” Not only did Jones attempt to illegally enact an ammo ban by bureaucratic decree, it appears that the agency, under his direction, “accidentally” published the ammo ban in their 2014 Regulation Guide Book—obviously, before any discussion had even taken place. A move worthy of any silver screen villain. (The BATFE’s “misprint” has since been corrected).

Fortunately, you responded to GRNC alerts on this topic, and demanded that Jones resign. Well, the results are in, and it looks like the good guys win again! On March 20th, it was announced that Jones will resign his post at the BATFE. Apparently he is to pursue a career at the National Football League.

Surely, the NFL is a better place for Jones, since sneaking a new decree into the NFL’s rule book is much lower stakes than attempting to dictate to 300 million otherwise free people. We’ll let you know if there is ever an outcry from Philadelphia over an unexpected ban of green football helmets.

Good Work Everyone!
Thanks to GRNC, its supporters and others, Jones is one less gun-grabbing bureaucrat we’ll all have to deal with. Vigilance is still critical, however. Dr. Jones’ ammo-ban may have been packed in an unmarked wooden crate, and wheeled to the middle of an enormous government warehouse, but it’s still out there . . . somewhere. GRNC will be watching.

Keep the gun-rights victories coming!

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE TO YOUR SENATORS

Suggested Subject: "Thank You for Voting ‘No’ on Loretta Lynch"

Dear Senator:

I'm writing to thank you for your opposition to the nomination of Loretta Lynch for Attorney General.

While Ms. Lynch has been quite vocal in support of several unconstitutional Obama administration positions, she has been curiously silent on scandals involving the firearms industry and the BATFE. The history of Obama nominees on Second Amendment issues has been disastrous, and Loretta Lynch is unlikely to change that pattern.

Loretta Lynch’s record makes it clear that, as Attorney General, she would simply continue the current Justice Department's record of ignoring Constitutional imperatives, selectively enforcing federal law, and supporting rogue executive actions.

Again, thank you for your opposition to the confirmation of Loretta Lynch. I will continue to monitor this issue via alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE TO REP. McHENRY

Suggested Subject: "Thank You for Standing for Gun Rights"

Dear Congressman McHenry:

In the wake of the Obama Administration’s efforts to enact backdoor gun control via unelected bureaucrats at the BATFE, I understand that you have introduced legislation to protect the people’s Second Amendment rights from this sort of abuse. I want to thank you for doing this. I strongly encourage you to remain steadfast in your effort to protect gun rights. As long as you do, you will have my backing.

I support the “Ammunition and Firearms Protection Act,” especially in the face of anti-gun members of Congress introducing opposing legislation, which would conflict with our natural right to keep and bear arms.

I will continue to monitor this issue via alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,
