GOP Control Brings No Solace
With good reason, GRNC has been sounding the alarm for weeks because of the constant drumbeat for gun control in Washington. Unfortunately, too many alarms may eventually sound like white noise to even the truest gun-rights supporter. Recognizing that, we are sending this alert today to assure you that the threat of gun control coming out of Washington has never been greater. One would think that Americans could take solace in the fact that both the Senate and the White House are controlled by Republicans. Unfortunately, that is not so.

Skeptics, Read Here

Plenty of the most dangerous gun control chatter in D.C. is coming from "pro-gun" Republicans. If you doubt this, check out this Axios story, which reports that President Trump is testing the waters on universal background checks (a federal gun registry in sheep's clothing). The proposal Trump is actively floating "would be consistent with bi-partisan Manchin-Toomey draft legislation." When "bi-partisan" and "gun control" are grouped together in a proposal, you can imagine what that means.

If you need more evidence, check out this CNN report, published by WRAL, confirming that several Republican senators are open to gun control proposals. The fact is, North Carolina's own Senator Burr (R-NC) has recently communicated an unsettling lack of resolve in his direct communication to North Carolina voters. Senator Burr states, “I believe that addressing gun violence requires a comprehensive approach." And, “I have supported many common-sense measures to address gun violence." Are you getting the picture?

GOP Betrayal Threatens More Than Gun Rights

Almost certainly, Republicans would not be able to overcome the exodus of its base that a GOP betrayal would cause. This, of course, has huge implications, from a Sanders or Warren presidency (or worse), to a loss of the Senate, either or both of which would mean more left-wing judges, including on the Supreme Court. It means there would be nothing to stop radical gun control proposals, including a potentially activist Supreme Court with an extra-constitutional attitude.

Be as Persistent as the Left

The left never gives up, they never stop. They rely on their persistence to tire us out, to wear us down, and they too often can claim victory due to this strategy. Don't let them. Gun owners and other Bill of Rights supporters must remain persistent in vocalizing earnest and principled rejection of gun control. It is my sincere belief that supporting and enacting this sort of unconstitutional policy will turn your base away from you, causing great Republican losses in 2020. This would hand the country over to left-wing zealots, and that would be an absolute disaster. What's worse is that the loss of the White House and/or the Senate would generate an ominous outlook for the courts as well.

I demand that you immediately pivot away from and all gun control proposals, and instead stand firm for the Bill of Rights. Failing to do so will have serious consequences. I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
