'Woke’ Board of Education Republicans

Attack Trump Supporter.

Lovers of Liberty,

The witch hunt has begun. And this time it’s a wife and mother of five children, and a decorated 33-year veteran of the US Army.

Former Lieutenant Colonel Sherry-Lynn Womack who received the Bronze Star Medal and a Combat Medical Badge is a member of the Lee County Board of Education. She attended the now infamous rally in which President Trump protested the election results. During that time, she spoke to a reporter for the USA Today, and identified herself as a member of the Lee County School Board in Sanford. She posted pictures on her social media accounts and left the rally before the trouble began.

Read that again – she was in no way involved with what happened on the Capitol. But she’s being treated as if she’s done something wrong.

That was apparently her first mistake.

Because guess what? Exercising your freedom of speech is now a crime.

But you knew that didn’t you? You have been watching the news, talking to like-minded family and friends about what has been happening and you’re concerned. Heck, you’re well past concerned.

America isn’t feeling like… well, America.

Patriotism is frowned upon and nationalism is a curse word. And it’s happening right now in good ol’ Lee County, a place most of us would consider firmly conservative. And it still is a blue county, even if five members of the Lee County Board of Education just happen to leftist. How did that happen by the way? How did five leftist members (who probably just moved down south and just decided to run for office) get elected on an education board in a majority conservative county?

Some may think it doesn’t matter. But it does. Because less than a week after President Trump’s latest rally, the Lee County board voted 5-2 to have its attorney investigate whether Sherry-Lynn violated policy.

Sherry-Lynn, who is married to Jim Womack, also a former veteran and the current Chairman of the Lee County Republican Party is a proud Christian, Deeply involved in her community, Sherry-Lynn serves on the North Carolina Social Services Commission, and is a missionary to the Jamaican Deaf Village for the Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf, where she teaches the sewing trade to deaf villagers.

Does this sound like a dangerous criminal? A terrorist? A bad person? Because that’s what the five leftist members of the Lee County Board of Education want you to think. And they want to send a message to anyone thinking about attending rallies and protests that don’t support their leftist agendas. They want you to be afraid to speak out, to worry about the repercussions. And it won’t matter if you don’t actually do anything wrong.

You have to wonder if Sherry-Lynn attended a BLM protest, didn’t wear a mask, and didn’t practice social distancing while looting and destroying public property if this would be happening. More likely, she’d be lauded by her leftist board members for her “wokeness.”

Though she did not join the protest at the Capitol it would appear that by simply practicing her first amendment right to free speech, Womack has done something wrong.

It goes without saying: Sherry-Lynn Womack did nothing wrong.

This sets a dangerous precedent, don’t you think? And one we have seen in other countries but never America.

Until now.

Among other things, being cancelled because you choose to speak out against something you think is wrong is becoming the new normal. Freedom of speech. Public protest. That is our normal and it’s not supposed to change. We have to do something now to make sure we recognize our country.

And it begins with you. With one small action.

So, How can you help Sherry-Lynn Womack? What can you do to further the cause of democracy in America?

Contact the only two Republican members of the Lee County School Board and let them know it is not acceptable for a proud American to be penalized for practicing her first amendment right. As an elected official, Sherry-Lynn represents the voice of the people. And considering that 54.7% of Lee County voted for the Republican Party in the last election, and that Lee county voted Republican in the previous five Presidential elections it is fair to say that Sherry-Lynn represents a majority of Lee County residents.

Dear Board Member,

I am very concerned about the precedent being set in Lee County. The one in which a law-abiding American citizen is penalized for expressing her first amendment right to free speech. I do not believe Sherry-Lynn Womack did anything wrong by attending a rally for President Trump. I also believe a clear message should be sent to those who believe lives should be disrupted for speaking out and against leftist agendas.

It’s bad enough that leftists are attacking citizens’ First Amendment rights. It’s worse when Republicans do it.

Please advise me of your position on whether you consider Sherry-Lynn Womack’s actions illegal, unethical and unworthy of a Lee County Board of Election Member. I will be monitoring your actions via Grass Roots North Carolina legislative alerts.
