GRNC-PVF Alert 11-1-12: THE TOP 10 REASONS NOT TO VOTE

Dear Gun Rights Supporters

To: Gun Rights Supporters

From: F. Paul Valone, President, Grass Roots North Carolina

To paraphrase an old cliché, “Out of the mouths of leftists…”

“The last two polls show the race is tied. Public Policy Polling says it’s 48% Obama, 48% Romney. Elon University says 45%-45%. Virtually all the experts agree. If President Obama wins North Carolina, he will win the Electoral College.”

That’s why they don’t want you to vote; they don’t want your son or daughter in the military to vote, or maybe your kid who’s away at college. Or maybe you just moved to North Carolina and aren’t registered to vote yet, or maybe your aging parent who doesn’t want to leave the house…

Why? Because in a battleground state, with a race that is a dead heat, EVERY SINGLE VOTE MATTERS! As you read this alert, pick up the phone and dial 3 simpatico friends, relatives or acquaintances. If they haven’t voted, give them a “Remember in November” voter guide (or get it from the site), and DRAG THEM TO THE POLLS.

TOP 10 REASONS NOT TO VOTE RIGHT NOW

In a shameless Letterman rip-off, let’s take a look at GRNC’s “Top 10 Reasons Not to Vote.

#10: “I’m not registered to vote.

Then register. Through 5:00 PM on Saturday (November 3), you can take advantage of “one-stop voting” in which you bring an ID with a current address, then register and vote in the same day. Note that this service is NOT available on election day.

#9: “I have to work” or “I don’t have time.

That’s why most county elections boards are keeping one-stop voting locations open until 6:30 or 7:00 PM during the week, and until 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 3. For hours in your county, check: http://www.app.sboe.state.nc.us/webapps/OS_sites/

#8: “I’ll do it on Tuesday.

Really? What if you get hit by a bus? Will you vote from the hospital? The fact is that you don’t know what will happen on Tuesday. Vote NOW!

#7: “I’m disabled and can’t get out of the house.

Although the deadline for requesting absentee ballots in writing has passed, people who are sick or disabled may have someone pick up an absentee ballot at their county elections board office any time up until November 5. The absentee ballot must be returned in person by 5:00 PM on November 5 or, if mailed, must be postmarked by November 5. To find your county board of elections, go to: http://www.ncsbe.gov/content.aspx?id=13

#6: “My vote won’t matter.

You don’t say. Tell that to Floridians who effectively elected George W. Bush to the presidency in 2000 by a grand 537 votes, or to North Carolina’s Congressman Patrick McHenry, who was elected with GRNC-PVF support by only 85 votes. Just this year, GRNC-PVF installed Senator-Elect Jeff Tarte (he is unopposed in the General Election) by 203 votes.

#5: “There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between them.

I won’t tell you that Romney is the best candidate in the world, but I can tell you that for gun rights (and individual rights in general), Obama is among the worst. In operation “Fast and Furious,” federal officials up to and potentially including Obama’s Attorney General apparently tried to drum up support for a ban on semi-automatic firearms by smuggling guns to Mexico themselves. In the presidential debate, Obama already admitted he wants to reinstitute the semi-auto ban.

Similarly, in the governor’s race, McCrory may or may not be the most pro-gun candidate in the race, but Dalton is truly anti-gun, and will veto any initiative GRNC manages to get through the legislature if elected. And the only one who can beat Dalton is McCrory.

#4: “[Fill-In-The-Blank] isn’t my ideal candidate.

I’ll be the first one to agree that settling for the “least of all evils” is not how we should typically conduct elections, but this election is far from typical. As I said earlier, when I recommended seeing the documentary “2016: Obama’s America,” we are fast running out of chances to turn things around.

#3: “I’m not political.

No kidding? Your opponents are, and they’re quite happy you aren’t. The fact is that politicians are going to try to run your life with or without your input. Your best bet for staying free is to have a hand in deciding who those politicians are.

#2: “I don’t wanna be on no list.

Hahahahaha. If you haven’t purchased a GRNC membership, how do you suppose you got this email?

And the #1 reason not to vote?

I plan to vote for Obama.

Um, gee, I guess you’re right. I can’t argue against that. Don’t vote.
