No compromise with those who exploit tragedy

Gun Rights Supporters:

    More vicious than ever, the hate mongers of the rabid left have wasted no time exploiting tragedy to attack your freedom.
Clinton says ‘of course’ you are at fault

    Before the bodies were even all identified, Hillary Clinton blamed Republicans and the NRA, saying “of course” you are complicit.

Clinton said: “This is nothing but pure, unadulterated greed motivated by people who want to sell as many guns as they can, to engage in a falsity of fear and rhetoric about why everybody has to have guns.”

Never mind that none of their ‘solutions’
would have changed anything

    In a reprise of Rahm Emanuel’s “never let a good crisis go to waste,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and others immediately began screaming for “universal background checks,” bans on semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines, and more.
    • Never mind that Stephen Paddock had absolutely no criminal background, and likely passed a background check for each of the dozens of firearms he procured, making “universal background checks” useless;

    • Never mind that he had nearly two dozen weapons in the suite from which he wreaked havoc, making the type of action of his firearms or the capacity of magazines pretty much a moot point;

  • And especially never mind that in France, where guns are almost entirely banned, recent mass homicides killed more than the 59 people who died in Las Vegas. Specifically,

          On November 13, 2015, terrorists in Paris killed 137 and wounded 368 in attacks using

explosives and illegal machine guns; and

    – On July 14, 2016, terrorists in Nice killed 86 and wounded 434 using a cargo truck.

Indeed,Dr. John Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center points out that in 2015, France had more casualties from mass public shootings that year than the US suffered during Barack Obama’s entire presidency (532 to 527).

Will Republicans resist Democrat exploitation?

Maybe yes, maybe no.

Some in the ostensibly “mainstream” media are now calling for “war” against the NRA; others want it (and, by association, YOU) branded a “terrorist organization.”

    To those who might be saying, “Thank God we elected a Republican Congress to protect gun owners,” I say, “Don’t be too sure.” Although Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) has stood strong for the Second Amendment, not only through his own victimization but also after the Las Vegas tragedy, other Republicans are not as resolute:

    • House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) has already pulled the S.A.F.E. Act from the legislative calendar. The bill would remove restrictions from sound suppressors;

  • Even conservatives from Newt Gingrich to our own Rep. Mark Meadows (R-11) are making noises that they might “look at” restrictions on so-called “bumpfire” stocks that the shooter used:

From The Washington Post: “You have to have a special class of license to have an automatic weapon,” Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chairman of the Freedom Caucus, [said]. “And, so, if this is something to bypass this, I think it becomes something that we obviously need to look at in the future.”

Republicans colluding with Diane Feinstein?

From USA Today: “Some key Republicans are showing interest in a narrowly written Democratic gun-control bill to ban “bump stock” rifle attachments that enable rapid firing.

“The bill offered by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the Senate Judiciary Committee’s top-ranking Democrat…”

Should we ‘compromise’ on the ‘bump fire’ system?

By now, you have probably seen the video footage of people putting lead downrange with what seems to be a machine gun. But media reports notwithstanding, there is nothing magical about the “bump fire” system.
    • All it does is to allow the finger to manipulate the trigger more rapidly;

    • The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reviewed it in 2010 and declined to regulate it because the mechanism did not qualify as a machine gun under the National Firearms Act of 1934;

  • In fact, bump fire mechanisms actually make it impossible for the shooter to aim accurately, making the system useless for mass killing in any situation other than a shooting position 32 floors above a crowded mass of people.
What gun control advocates mean by ‘compromise’
What gun control advocates think have found is their next “low hanging fruit” – something with which they can mislead the public which will, not coincidentally, divide gun owners while demonstrating to their donors that they are “doing something.”

    So if you are prone to “compromise” on the issue, understand that “compromise,” as our opposition defines it, is a process in which you lose less than under their proposal, but YOU STILL LOSE.

    Rest assured that “bump fire” stocks will be a stalking horse: Hung onto any legislation to ban them will also be a ban on what they will call “high capacity” magazines.” Under this sort of scheme, not long ago, New Yorkers got stuck with a 7-round limit on magazine capacity, an arbitrary limit which was struck down in court, only to be replaced with an equally arbitrary 10-round limit.

What YOU must do

    • Hold firm on “no compromise”: In 2013, we beat federal gun control by holding firm against the phony “Toomey-Manchin Compromise,” under which you would have been saddled with the framework for universal gun registration. You must do the same thing now.

    • Contact Congressman Mark Meadows at (202) 225-6401: Let him know you appreciate his conservative positions to date, but that he needs to remember that no “compromise” on gun control is acceptable.

  • Help GRNC reload for the coming battle: We threw everything we had at keeping Hillary Clinton out of office in the last election, meaning we desperately need money and volunteers for the upcoming battle. Please help by donating at: https://www.grnc.org/join-grnc/contribute
