Three dangerous bills in opening days of Congress

Gun Rights Supporters:

    L
ast week on my radio show, “Guns, Politics and Freedom,” I described a reader who told me that my last letter to you, predicting gun control bills Democrats would push in Washington and Raleigh, was “fear mongering.”

I hate to say ‘I told him so…’

“Fear-mongering?” Well, I hate to say “I told him so,” but I told him so. In just the first few days of the new Congress, anti-gun zealots introduced no fewer than three dangerous bills:

    • H.R. 8 for “universal background checks:” This darling of “Speaker Moonbat” (a/k/a Nancy Pelosi) would require all gun transfers – including even handing a gun to a friend to shoot – to be registered via the computerized National Instant Background Check System (NICS). And make no mistake, registration is what they are after. Why? Because they can’t ban what they can’t find.

    • S.66, Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s latest “assault weapon” ban: Beyond even its blatant violation of the Second Amendment, this new ban is far more draconian that the now-expired 1994 ban, and would outlaw many (if not most) current semi-automatic firearms, including many handguns commonly used for self-defense and competition.

  • S.7 for “Extreme Risk” Protection Orders: Introduced by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, this bill could bypass due process and allow nearly anyone – ex wives or ex-husbands, hostile neighbors, or even petulant co-workers – to declare you “dangerous,” after which police would confiscate your guns.
Would you get due process of law? Nope. A judge could convene an “ex parte” (emergency) hearing at any time, night or day, without your participation or even knowledge. That’s right: You don’t get a chance to defend yourself in court before they confiscate your guns.

That’s what happened to a Maryland man when police banged on his door at 5AM in a confrontation that ended up with the man shot dead in what became the nation’s first case of death by “Red Flag Law.”

You think these bills won’t get hearings?

Think again.

Yes, I know. In every session of Congress, gun control bills are introduced that are destined to go nowhere. And yes, certain organizations conduct what I call “predatory fundraising” by exploiting fears of those non-viable bills.

Well, I am here to tell you, this isn’t one of those sessions. Although Republicans control the U.S. Senate…
    • Republicans are supporting “red flag” disarmament bills in Florida and elsewhere;

    • Republican Attorney General nominee William Barr is now on record as supporting “red flag” disarmament laws, calling them the “the “single most important thing we can do in the gun control area”.

  • Republican Sen. Marco Rubio is the sponsor of the federal “red flag” bill, meaning Republican leadership will be predisposed to give it a hearing. And if it passes the Senate, the Democrats who control the House will not only pass it, they will load it with other items from their lengthy gun control wish list.

Please help GRNC mobilize gun owners

Right now, we need you to immediately do two things:

    • Contact your U.S. House Rep. and both U.S. Senators: Tell them you will accept NO GUN CONTROL, however “commonsense” its advocates may claim it is, and that you will not compromise. To identify and contact your representatives, go to: www.ncleg.gov/RnR/Representation

To locate your U.S. House Rep., select ‘Congress’ and provide your address at the top of the map. North Carolina’s U.S. Senators are: Richard Burr – 202-224-3154 and Thom Tillis – 202-224-6342.

  • Help Grass Roots North Carolina mobilize: Having thrown everything we had at the last elections (which is largely why we fared better than other states), GRNC is dangerously low on the funds needed for the campaign to defeat gun control in both Washington and Raleigh.

Please support GRNC by going to:

We appreciate your membership, but the reality is that political action requires more than membership dues. I can’t promise victory, but I can promise that because we are all volunteers, GRNC will put your money to more efficient, effective use in defending your rights than any other organization.

Armatissimi e liberissimi,

P.S. I want you to know how much I personally appreciate anything you can do. $100, $50, even $25 will help GRNC send the alerts and mailings necessary to mobilize gun right supporters against new gun control.
