GRNC Alert 9/4/22: Wake County to shut down property owner’s gun rights!

Gun-banning leftists are sparing no effort in their relentless assault on gun rights.  Today, the fight is in Wake County, where Commissioners this coming Tuesday are considering significant changes to Wake County’s existing firearms discharge ordinance.

These changes are designed not to provide reasonable public safety as proponents would claim, but rather to create wide swaths of areas within the county where the lawful discharge of firearms for training or recreation will forever be prohibited.

Most significantly, property owners with less than 300 yards separation from cited structures (vs the current 100 yard standard) will no longer be able to lawfully discharge firearms at any time on their private property.

Wake County gun owners, you have already seen your share of gun rights repression in the form of “woke” Democrat Sheriff Gerald Baker who not only resisted issuing both Pistol Purchase and Concealed Handgun Permits for over a year until GRNC and GOA successfully sued him (and won!) to comply with state statutes on procedure but also took control of and summarily shut down a Wake County public training range in use for many years.

Now, your Wake County Commissioners are primed to conduct a Public Hearing to criminalize current lawful firearms discharges on one’s personal private property.

Simply put, these revisions are designed to terminate the rights of property owners to decide what is the best and proper use of their properties.

You Can Fight Back – And Win!

Months ago, a similar proposal was advanced by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners.  However, a sizeable turn out of Guilford County gun owners at their Public Hearing forced the commissioners to reconsider their plans to enact similar significant changes and table the effort indefinitely.  Wake County Commissioners are likely to move ahead with their plan unless WAKE COUNTY GUN OWNERS turn out in significant numbers Tuesday evening and force them to change their plans. 

First and foremost, you must plan to attend in person the Public Hearing scheduled for 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 6^th in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room 300 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh.  Use this link to sign up to speak in advance:  Sign up to speak in-person Tue Sep 6th beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. You will be allowed 3 minutes to make your statement.
