HB5 Stalled in Rules? The Senate Moved It Faster!
HB5 (“NC Constitutional Carry Act”) appears to be stalled in the House Rules Committee. It is unclear why this bill has not been added to the calendar, but whatever the reason, House leaders allowing this bill to sit idle is not going to bring North Carolina up to the modern standard on gun rights in the United States.
Let’s Ping Leadership on NC Permitless Carry
Perhaps the Rules Committee will be looking at HB5 soon, but rather than wonder and hope, it would be best if gun owners were to reach out to key House leaders to remind them that they’ve missed something. After all, the Senate’s Constitutional Carry bill moved on consecutive days, while the House bill has not. House leadership can definitely do better.
Below, find contact information and a copy-paste email message you can use to easily remind House leadership of this oversight. We’ll be emailing House Speaker Destin Hall, Rules Chair John Bell,
and Majority Leader Brenden Jones. Surely, with a little nudge, they’ll get HB5 on the House Rules Committee calendar as soon as possible.

Dear Representative:
It has come to my attention that HB5 (“NC Constitutional Carry Act”) is not yet on House Rules Committee’s calendar. A stalled HB5 would be a great disappointment to gun voters like me, and I can only hope that this was an accidental oversight. Perhaps this reminder is all it will take to get this bill moving through Rules in the coming week.
Representative, I’ll point out that the Senate moved Constitutional Carry on consecutive days, and there is no reason HB5 cannot be moved quickly as well. Therefore, I ask that you utilize your position in leadership to make sure this important bill gets back on track, so our State can catch up with the majority of the nation on recognizing Constitutional gun rights.
