GRNC ALERT: 6/22/20 Tell Trump to stop the ATF making felons out of millions of gun owners

US Representative Matt Gaetz uncovered this subterfuge recently and sent a letter to US Attorney General Barr and Acting ATF Director Lombardo, also signed by six other members of Congress. The letter, dated June 16, addresses what appears to be a reversal of policy regarding arm braces for pistols.”

In 2012 the ATF determined adding an arm brace to a pistol does not turn it into a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR), which would require going through a Federal registration process to legally possess one. Failure to complete the process will land you in jail. The ATF has apparently been developing an arbitrary scheme to define what is a stock and  not an arm brace. ATF has apparently refused to publish what these standards are.

According to Representative Gaetz, there have been criminal prosecutions of gun owners. Further, manufacturers who have or may have failed to comply have had to recall thousands of firearms for destruction. Other companies apparently have been told by ATF to halt sales.  All on the whim of an unelected ATF employee.

There is no published standard to define these “design features”. This could turn millions of Americans into accidental felons if the ATF can arbitrarily change course and declare what was once an “arm brace” is now a “stock “. 

At the stroke of a pen a legal pistol becomes a National Firearms Act regulated SBR subject to Federal Registration. This could affect millions of gun owners, who have pistols with this feature or have added an arm brace.

We must let President Trump know that he must stop this assault on personal freedom by Deep State employees inside the ATF. Likely many thousands of “heavy pistols” with arm braces have been sold in the last three months, some to new gun owners.

How would it feel if you got arrested because the pistol you purchased legally has suddenly and unbeknownst to you become a restricted SBR? Many conservative voters  are still very upset about the “bump stock” ban that was also the result of an ATF rule change.

In this time of turmoil the policies of the Democrat Party verge on lunacy, such as defunding or banning the police. Socialist dreams such as disarming the citizenry at large, wealth redistribution, suppression of free speech, and an activist Supreme Court are within their reach.

We can’t afford to let President Trump lose in November! Let him know he can’t afford to alienate voters who believe in the Constitution and feel that the Second Amendment is going to be stripped away by either party.

Suggested Subject: “Stop ATF infringing on rights“

Dear Mr. President

I am writing to remind you that your voting base will not accept arbitrary changes to existing law by ATF bureaucrats. The ATF should not be allowed to make millions of citizens felons by changing an established rule on pistol arm braces.

It is my sincere belief that allowing ATF to trample peoples rights and indeed prosecute law abiding citizens for following this  unconstitutional policy will turn your base away from you, causing great Republican losses in 2020. This would hand the country over to people who embrace the destruction of America as we know it.

I demand that you immediately  stop the ATF from going forward with its unconstitutional rule changes and stand firm for the Bill of rights.  Failing to do so will have serious consequences. I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
