Rumor has it that Speaker Thom Tillis is under considerable pressure from centrist elements regarding gun bills, specifically that such bills aren’t “polling well.” Now is the time to deliver a message of support by letting Speaker Tillis and Republican House leadership know that you want 4 things more than anything else: (1) Castle Doctrine; (2) Concealed carry in municipal and state parks; (3) Concealed carry in restaurants; and (4) Guns in locked vehicles for concealed handgun permit-holders.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE
Dear Speaker Tillis (or Majority Leader Stam, or your rep):
Gun owning voters turned out in record numbers in the 2010 elections because they expect you to reverse the trend toward erosion of Second Amendment liberties. House Bill 650, “Amend Various Gun Laws” is exactly the right instrument to do so, and I strongly urge you to provide the bill a floor vote on Tuesday.
Above all else, gun owners want four things from this session of the General Assembly: Castle Doctrine, the ability of concealed handgun permit-holders to protect their families in state and municipal parks, the ability of concealed handgun permit-holders to protect their families in restaurants, and the ability of employees to keep firearms in locked vehicles.
I respect your courage in scheduling bills such as HB 111 and HB 650 for floor votes. If you finish the job for which we sent you to Raleigh, rest assured I will remember it in 2012. I will be monitoring this issue via Grass Roots North Carolina legislative alerts.
Respectfully,
