CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY AMENDMENT FOR NC |
Tell Moore and Lewis to Move Constitutional Carry Bill Forward . . .
In the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack, House leadership is caving to political correctness and has chosen not to move forward legislation that would make concealed carry a constitutional right in North Carolina. North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore (R, Cleveland), along with Rules Committee Chairman David Lewis (R, Harnett) are working together to hold up the bill, titled HB 1148.
Constitutional Carry
Rep. Pittman introduced a similar bill in 2015, but the bill died for lack of a committee hearing. Given the problem imposed on us by the leftists of the Ninth Circuit, the bill now becomes especially timely because it accomplishes the following:
- Removes the “…nothing herein shall justify the practice of carry concealed weapons…” language from the NC Constitution.
- Creates “constitutional” (permit-less) concealed carry.
- Keeps the current concealed handgun permit system intact in order to afford citizens reciprocity with other states and to enable citizens to carry in more sensitive areas.
Now that the dangers of today’s world are becoming clearer to more and more North Carolinians, one wonders how many of these good people will be forced to remain defenseless while waiting for Republicans to put their legislative actions where their stump speeches are.
Call on Speaker Moore and David Lewis to support Rep. Pittman’s bill. They ought to support and pass this bill. Or, should another unnecessarily horrid tragedy occur, be prepared to explain why they’ve disarmed good people in the face of ghastly and entirely unpredictable terrorist attack.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE
Suggested Subject: “HB 1148 MUST Receive a Hearing and a Vote!”
Dear Speaker Moore and Mr. Lewis:
It has come to my attention that you have decided to shelve Rep. Larry Pittman’s HB 1148 codifying a constitutional amendment guaranteeing concealed carry of firearms. The recent terrorist attack in Orlando demonstrates just how important it is for law abiding citizens to be able to protect themselves and this bill would go a long way toward that end.
I want the choice to be able to vote on this important amendment and I urge you to immediately put this bill to a hearing and a vote.
I am closely watching your actions on this issue through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
