THE MEDIA IS SPOOKING |
Gun shy due to media coverage of unrelated current events, Republicans in the NC Senate need your encouragement…
Anti-Gun Sentiment: a Media Mirage
Once again, the anti-gun media (a redundancy), is utilizing their one-way columnists and “reporters” to cast an enormous “shadow of doom” over gun rights issues. Media items driven by unrelated current events may be scaring NC senators away from following the will of the people, respecting individual rights, and passing HB746 (Constitutional Carry and more). Of course, this shadow is nothing but that, a trick of light, a mirage used to push sentiment against its proper flow, and back toward those who would stamp out your rights.
Unfortunately, in the Capital, what reporters print is seen as the political truth, and indeed legislators can be spooked into believing the public is suddenly against certain legislation—that is, if they don’t hear from the actual public. Newsies have a way of inventing a “straw populace” around events that always seem to agree with the newsies, and as long as no actual people speak up, that straw populace stands. There is a remedy for that. . .
Actively Encourage the Senate
All it takes to pull the curtain back on the media, and give a senator a little extra courage, is for you to email and call. When they see notes from real gun owners, and hear real voices on the line, it becomes as clear to them as it is to you where the public stands, and much more importantly, they are reminded of what is right and what they campaigned on.
We need to actively encourage our senators to make sure they know we’re behind them, and the faster they move the bill, the better. Below, see how you can easily contact some of the key players in the NC Senate, and offer them what they need to get this done, and quickly.

“Voters Support the Omnibus Gun Bill, Pass it Quickly”
Dear Senator:
I am writing today because I’m worried that you and other Senate Republicans may be shying away from the Omnibus Gun Bill due to media coverage of unrelated current events.
With that in mind, it seems appropriate to remind you that most media outlets are notoriously anti-gun. Fortunately, the 21st Century voter possesses enough media-savvy to recognize this. For example, we’re well aware that reporters often print the quotes that fit their point of view and discard those that don’t. We also know that the media will use unrelated events as political bludgeons in an attempt to sway opinion, and affect policy. Indeed, members of the media project a sizable mirage, but they don’t speak for most voters. They certainly don’t speak for me.
I’m a gun owner and an actual voter, and I want to encourage you to do what it takes to quickly move this bill to the Senate floor and pass it without changes. Make no mistake: this bill has the full support of the people.
I will continue to monitor your actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
