DICK’S AND FIELD & STREAM |
Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream have established their own corporate gun control laws, refusing to serve “certain” folks. . .
Denial of Service
Should there be any doubt, eighteen is the age of majority. At eighteen, men and women sign contracts, join the work force, serve in the military, vote, and solely reap the benefits and consequences of their actions. It is perfectly legal for a law-abiding eighteen, nineteen and twenty-year-old to purchase a rifle, yet Dick’s Sporting Goods is announcing that they and their Field & Stream stores will be denying service to “these people.” Adult customers between the ages of eighteen and twenty will be turned away from the gun counter, and anyone who would like to purchase a modern sporting file, like the AR-15, will not be able to purchase it at Field & Stream. This is because Dick’s corporation is to be the arbiter of which citizens should be allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
Is it legal for Dick’s and Field & Stream to provide unequal treatment to their adult customer base, particularly for a service directly related to a protected civil right? Ultimately, that will be for the courts to decide, but whether or not it’s legal, it is neither ethical nor reasonable. And it’s likely that the ulterior motive behind Dick’s very public virtue signaling is the stigmatization and marginalization of gun owners.
If Dick’s and Field & Stream refuse to stock America’s most popular rifles, and if they don’t want “certain” gun owners in their stores, all gun owners ought to be happy to oblige them.
DO NOT SHOP:
DICK’S SPORTING GOODS
FIELD & STREAM
Because of the corporate gun control being imposed by Dick’s, part of an obvious effort to stigmatize and marginalize gun owners, Grass Roots North Carolina is recommending that gun-rights supporters DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from these two retailers.
Please send a message to Dick’s to let them know that you won’t be shopping at their stores because of their denial of service to certain people, and their effort to stigmatize all gun owners as likely “killers.” Below, see how you can easily contact their corporate leadership.

“Treat All Customers Equally or Lose My Business”
Dear Ms. Hobart and Mr. Stack:
I’ve recently learned of your decision to impose corporate gun control on sporting goods consumers by refusing to stock certain rifles, and and refusing to sell to certain law-abiding adults. This is very disappointing to say the least. Denying service to “certain” people is not an acceptable way to conduct business in the modern world, and it’s even worse that your denial of service revolves around a protected civil right.
Men and women between eighteen and twenty are adults. They sign contracts, join the work force, start families, serve in the military and vote. Any effort to treat them as second-class citizens is offensive, immoral, and frankly, it appears that the true motive behind your new policy is to stigmatize and marginalize gun owners.
As a consumer who is also serious about the Bill of Rights, I would advise you to rethink this misguided, discriminatory policy. Unless and until this policy is changed, and all law-abiding adults are once again treated equally at Dick’s and Field & Stream, I will not shop at your stores, and I will advise others to avoid your stores as well.
Do the right thing. Resume the stocking of modern sporting rifles, and more importantly, treat all adult customers equally at Dick’s and Field & Stream stores. I will be monitoring your company’s actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
