HB 61: PERMITLESS CONCEALED CARRY REINTRODUCED

PERMITLESS CONCEALED CARRY RETURNS

Last year, Republican leadership in the NC Senate failed to move HB 746 (Permitless Concealed Carry and more), but a new year brings hope…

It’s true, Republican inaction on conservative legislation demotivated their base, and Republicans paid for this at the polls last November. That’s the old news.

Rep. Larry Pittman

Looking Ahead to HB 61
The past is the past, but it’s 2019 and with a new year comes good news! A new bill, HB 61, nearly identical to HB 746, has been introduced in the NC House. As you might have guessed, the new bill was introduced by Rep. Larry Pittman (Cabarrus, Rowan), GRNC 4-star and perennial gun rights stalwart.

We are Serious about Gun Rights

GRNC is tenacious, and we will not stop fighting, along with our allies in the NC legislature, for permitless concealed carry. We will continue to assist solid gun rights legislators while encouraging those distracted by other issues. Although pro-gun legislation is often promised on the campaign trail, it is not always delivered easily. No matter. We’re not giving up, and we will ultimately win. But to win, we need your help…

Suggested Subject: “Pass HB 61 – Permitless Concealed Carry”

Dear Representative:

After a disappointing 2018, I am writing to express both enthusiasm and hopefulness over a new opportunity for Republicans to remedy last year’s failure on gun rights legislation. I understand that Rep. Larry Pittman has just introduced HB 61. This bill is similar to HB 746 (Permitless Concealed Carry and More), but with the caveat that one must be twenty-one to carry concealed, rather than eighteen.

As a gun rights voter, I am glad to see that we have a new opportunity to pass pro-gun legislation, and also that Republican legislators have a chance to satisfy the pro-Second Amendment principles documented in the Republican Party platform.

Pro-gun voters like me are the base of the Republican Party. That is why it was so surprising to see Republican leadership disappoint this critical voting bloc leading up to last year’s election. Surely, that lack of action on conservative bills contributed to last November’s losses. Fortunately, HB 61 presents an opportunity to remedy this.

I insist that you do the right thing during this session. Do what it takes to give HB 61 a hearing and see that it is brought to the House floor for an up or down vote. I will be monitoring your actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,
