A “Community Conversation” to Gut the 2nd Amendment

BLOOMBERG STRIKES AGAIN
IN NORTH CAROLINA

Grass Roots North Carolina was recently contacted by television station WBTV about a “Community Conversation” that they will be hosting about gun violence. The headliner for this “Conversation” is no other than Shannon Watts, the ex-Monsanto Bloomberg-funded head of the corporate anti-gun lobby that wants to convince you that your 2nd Amendment right isn’t a right at all. Joining in this anti-gun echo chamber will be a host of Democratic politicians that share in the desire to limit your rights, “for your own good.”

The station wanted to know if GRNC would “join” this “panel,” knowing fully that whoever came would become the whipping post for this group of people that have sold their souls (and yours, given the chance) to the anti-freedom corporate lobbies that are hard at work. At no point, of course, did WBTV feel it appropriate to include an equal number of representatives from the large community of law-abiding gun owners, instructors, competitive marksmen and actual grassroots organizers that work hard to protect our freedoms: instead, one lonely person would be setup for abuse.

As we all know, this conversation has nothing to do with gun safety. This is, by design, an echo chamber of bought-and-paid-for sellouts—sellouts that will, on cue, jump in line to champion the failed gun control legislation that those of their ilk keep pushing for. Real discussions being a diversity of people and ideas together, but it’s clear that WBTV has no interest in doing that.

Grass Roots North Carolina doesn’t sell itself to anyone, and we like to remind those that do sell out that there’s a very real consequence for doing this. We’ve tried to speak to the folks at WBTV, but they have been conveniently unavailable. It’s time to show them that selling out to the corporate anti-gun lobby has real consequences.

If WBTV doesn’t want to provide fair and balanced journalism, then we think it only fair to reach out to WBTV’s advertisers and let them know that North Carolina’s law-abiding gun owners will take their business elsewhere if they don’t pull their advertising from WBTV to protest this egregious action.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!

  • CALL AND EMAIL WBTV and let them know that Shannon Watts and her echo chamber of blind sheep followers are in no way representative of our community. They need to be told that this is both yellow journalism and overt sponsorship of the corporate anti-freedom agenda. Let them know that you will not be supporting them or their advertisers while they engage in this egregious behavior.
  • CALL AND EMAIL Toyota of North Charlotte and tell them to cut their advertising ties with WBTV—and that if they don’t, that you’ll spread the word that Toyota of North Charlotte is tacitly supporting the corporate anti-gun lobby, and that they are not deserving of our business.
  • PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO GRNC: Help us fight gun control while we promote Second Amendment principles. Please CLICK HERE to contribute. Bear in mind that GRNC is an all-volunteer organization, so you can be sure your donations are put to the best possible use. Any amount helps, and any amount is appreciated.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE TO WBTV

Suggested Subject: “WBTV’s Blatant Yellow Journalism”

Dear WBTV:

Through Grass Roots North Carolina’s alerts, I have been made aware of WBTV’s plan to give Shannon Watts and a “gun control echo chamber” a platform from which to spew their anti-freedom nonsense. Nothing could be further from a true “conversation,” and I’m really disappointed that your station would pander thus to the anti-gun corporate lobby.

If WBTV doesn’t immediately change the format to include an equal number of pro-second-amendment speakers, then I will have no choice but to boycott both WBTV and its advertisers, and I will go out of my way to let your advertisers know about this.

Respectfully,

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE
TO TOYOTA OF NORTH CHARLOTTE

Suggested Subject: “Stop Advertising With WBTV!”

Dear Toyota of North Charlotte:

As you may know, the WBTV television station has decided to pander to the corporate anti-gun lobby by hosting a “community conversation about gun violence” that is anything but. Not only have they invited former Monsanto PR executive Shannon Watts and an echo chamber of anti-gun politicians to spread Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun rhetoric in North Carolina. No pro-second-amendment advocates will be included in this “community conversation.”

Toyota of North Charlotte is an advertiser on WBTV, and I’m writing to let you know that as long as your dealership continues to advertise on WBTV, I will be taking my automotive business elsewhere. Furthermore, I will let my friends and family know that Toyota of North Charlotte supports this sort of yellow journalism, and that they should also take their business elsewhere.

Your dealership has a fine reputation in Charlotte and the surrounding area, and I would like to see you continue to enjoy the patronage of my friends and family. I will look forward to hearing that you have discontinued advertising with WBTV, and that you stand strong with your local community in rejecting these out-of-state lobbies and the politicians that they pander to.

Respectfully,
