TELL CABARRUS COMMISSION WHAT DISCHARGE BAN YOU WILL ACCEPT |
Cabarrus County is going to set a new Discharge of Firearms Ordinance at a public hearing Monday, December 20, 2021at 6:30 PM in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County Governmental Center, 65 Church Street, S. Concord, NC.
The current proposal is the minimum we will accept.
It would prohibit the discharge of a firearm within 300 feet of any occupied building, as well as any residence, business, house of worship, educational facility, park facility, or any other public gathering facility, regardless of whether these places are occupied. However, this would not apply to discharges taking place on the same parcel of such structures. Additionally, persons would be prohibited from discharging a firearm “careless or heedlessly” or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Also, persons would be prohibited from shooting on or across the property of another without permission.
The restrictions in the proposed ordinance would not apply to state-licensed hunting or government officials acting in their official capacity. The distance restriction would not apply to shooting ranges operated by a law enforcement agency or the shooting of blanks in ceremonial or commemorative functions.
We need you to support this proposed ordinance with an email to all the Cabarrus commissioners except Barb Strang. And if you can attend, please do so.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE |
Dear Commissioner:
It is my understanding that the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus is set to modernize the Discharge of Firearms Ordinance for the county.
As always, such ordinances impact the ability to practice the vital skills for one’s common-sense civil right of self-defense.
They should be set at a minimal level to ensure the safety and security of all in the county.
The current proposal is the most restrictive I will accept. I will be monitoring this issue through Grass Roots North Carolina legislative alerts.
Respectfully,
