A Pretti distraction

In a clever ploy, the left has some Second Amendment advocates chasing their tails over the shooting of Alex Pretti by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents amid the riots against I.C.E. in Minneapolis.
Leftists like Governor Tim Walz and our own Democrat Governor and (would-be Senator) Roy Cooper have conveniently found religion on the Second Amendment. Said Cooper on X: “American citizens are killed while exercising their First – and Second – Amendment rights.”
Having known Cooper for 30+ years, ever since he was chairman of the North Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee where he killed all of our pro-gun bills, I can say with confidence that Roy Cooper has absolutely no respect for the Second Amendment.
Like Walz and other leftists who now conveniently claim that Alex Pretti was just a poor concealed handgun permit-holder murdered while exercising his Second Amendment rights, Cooper thinks he has found the dog whistle that will cause members of the Second Amendment community to turn on each other.
Despite having received a few complaints from our own community over my last piece on the shooting, please allow me to utter yet another blasphemy: Regardless of what the federal investigation of the shooting ultimately reveals, this case has nothing whatsoever to do with either the First or the Second Amendment …
