GRNC Alert: Protest Senator’s Bad Behavior
|
You may remember that Senator “Bully Bill” Rabon was recently called out for his terrible mistreatment of a pro-gun activist. We found it bad enough that the senator refuses to live up to the letter, or even the spirit of his party’s platform, but on top of his failure at being a proper, pro-gun rights Republican, he has iced it all over with an uncharitable attitude toward citizens who would dare question him. So much for “public servant.” (Read the original alert here).
female activist last week,
A PROTEST HAS BEEN ORGANIZED
Everyone is invited, of course, but given Rabon’s recent behavior toward a female activist, PRO-GUN WOMEN ARE PARTICULARLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. You are invited to the protest where we will be calling for two things:
- That Senator Rabon issue a public apology to the woman he bullied, for behavior unfitting a statesman, and certainly less than chivalrous.
- Because of his behavior and his ineffective leadership, that Senator Rabon resign so a more effective legislator may step in. Republican leadership must be even-tempered and must not be averse to moving pro-Second Amendment legislation.
Find details below
Immediate Action Required! |
- ATTEND TUESDAY’S PROTEST AT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY Tuesday, December 4, from 9:30 am – 10:30am. Everyone is invited, but women are especially encouraged to attend. Demand Bully Bill Rabon’s apology for his un-statesmanlike behavior, and also his resignation for this behavior and for his unwillingness to support the Second Amendment. More protest details below.

- ALSO, IF YOU’RE UNABLE TO MAKE THE PROTEST, GIVE THEM A CALL AS WELL. Use the numbers and text below to leave a message (or a voice-mail if necessary):
Call Senator Rabon: (919) 733-5963
Hello, I am calling to insist that Senator Rabon apologize to the woman he bullied last week. Because of his attitude toward citizens who are simply petitioning their representatives, I also insist that Mr. Rabon step down and make room for a leader with an even temperament, one actually concerned about a woman’s right to self-protection, and not averse to pro-Second Amendment legislation. Thank you.
Call Senator Berger: (919) 733-5708
Hello, I am calling to insist that Senator Berger pressure Senator Rabon to apologize to the woman he bullied last week. Because of Mr. Rabon’s attitude toward citizens who are simply petitioning their representatives, I also insist that Mr. Rabon be asked to step down and make room for a leader with an even temperament, one actually concerned about a woman’s rights to self-protection, and not averse to pro-Second Amendment legislation. Thank you.

Suggested Subject: “Provide Women an Equalizer. Pass HB-746 Now!”
Dear Senators Berger and Rabon:
I am writing to express my great discontent over the bullying of a female activist, last week, by Senator Rabon. I understand that Mr. Rabon’s behavior was un-statesmanlike to say the least, and due to the context, may only be a symptom of a greater problem.
As much as anything, Mr. Rabon’s treatment of the citizen petitioning him seems to stem from the subject matter being discussed. Of course, the subject matter was gun rights, and HB-746 specifically (Permitless Concealed Carry and more). The senator’s strong negative reaction to discussion of a bill that he ought to be supporting, yet has consistently stalled as the chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, signifies that his values are not in line with his party’s values (per the official Republican Party platform), nor with the values of freedom-loving North Carolinians. That said, a couple things are in order.
One: Due to his mistreatment of a female activist last week, Mr. Rabon ought to apologize to the woman in question. Two: Senator ought to step down as chairman of the Rules Committee and make room for a Republican leader who recognizes that, in this often-dangerous world, women need an equalizer. One way to show your recognition of this fact, and to support women, who are among the most vulnerable of our citizens, is to immediately pass HB-746 and override a likely veto by the governor.
Achieving these things would send a strong message to the law-abiding citizens of North Carolina, particularly its female citizens, a message that the Republicans in Raleigh stand with them and will take measures to help them protect themselves and their families. Conversely, failing do to these things will speak volumes about where Senate leadership really stands on gun rights, on how it feels about citizen feedback, and whether or not women should be less incumbered in their efforts to protect themselves and others.
Do the right thing. Denounce leadership’s mistreatment of women and pass HB-746 now. I’ll be monitoring your actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
