STOP Gun Control Bills in Raleigh |
Here’s What’s Bad
As expected, with a sympathetic governor and a sense of momentum, the anti-gun politicians in Raleigh are champing at the bit to foist heavy duty control on North Carolina’s citizenry. You can find no better proof of this than by looking at the bills they have filed. Here’s just a taste (there are more):
- H454: ‘Allow ERPOs to Save Lives & Prevent Suicides.’ a.k.a. ‘Red Flag’ or ‘Extreme Risk Protection Order’ laws. You’ve read plenty about these recently, so you probably know that these proposed laws blatantly violate the second, fourth, fifth and sixth amendments. That’s a lot of amendments.
- H86: ‘Gun Violence Prevention Act.’ Is that Orwellian enough for you? This might as well be called the ‘Population Control Act,’ as it’s basically an omnibus of evil. Simply put, it’s chocked full of the wildest fantasies of gun control zealots everywhere.
- H456: ‘Permit Req’d/Assault Weapon & Long Gun.’ A bill to force the citizenry to obtain permits for their “Assault Weapons.” As GRNC and its supporters fight to eliminate the Jim Crow-era Pistol Purchase Permit, the anti-gun crowd in the General Assembly is working hard to expand the permission-slip system of gun purchases for ANY long gun. These guys have never seen an infringement they don’t like.
Scary right?
Here’s What’s Good
- H61: ‘Omnibus Gun Changes.’ Primary sponsors Larry Pittman, Larry Potts and Keith Kidwell. Among other things, this bill contains permitless concealed carry.
- H498: ‘NC Constitutional Carry Act.’ This bill is similar to the omnibus bill, which contains permitless concealed carry, but H498 is focused on constitutional carry alone. Let’s face it, North Carolina is behind on this matter. Already, sixteen states have some form of constitutional carry, and the list is growing. Fortunately, we still have statesmen like primary sponsors Michael Speciale, Keith Kidwell, and Bobby Hanig, who have the courage to introduce excellent bills like this one.
- H110 & S90: ’Protect Religious Meeting Places.’ These excellent bills open schools on religious property to concealed carry when school is not in session. This allows citizens to protect themselves and others while they worship, and we’ve all seen that those practicing religion (whichever it may be) are often targets. Thanks to Rep. Rena Turner (H110), Sens. Warren Daniel, Danny Britt, Jr., & Todd Johnson for sponsoring these bills.

Suggested Subject: “Act to Quash All Democrat Gun Control Bills”
Dear NC Republican Legislator:
I am writing today because I am both incensed and horrified by the several gun control bills introduced by your Democrat colleagues in Raleigh. These bills call for unconstitutional ‘Red Flag’ laws, second and third-world-style permitting of common rifles and shotguns, invasive background checks, and several more proposals that are just as bad or worse. I need to know that you will do what’s necessary to stop these bills.
This is why I am demanding that you take whatever legislative actions are necessary to nip this California-style gun control in the bud. North Carolina is a free state, and we plan to keep it that way. The question is, are you going to be part of the team that overtly fights to maintain and expand that freedom? I will tell you, based on campaign promises, your party’s platform and more importantly, based on what is objectively right, gun voters expect you to be on that team. This is not the time for hiding in the shadows or sticking a moist finger in the air. You must fight.
You are an important member of the General Assembly in Raleigh. An influential position like yours comes with responsibility. The position also comes with high visibility, and in these critical times, I can assure you that voters are closely watching your actions on these matters. Do the right thing: use your position to take active steps to make sure these ominous gun control bills never have a hearing, and never receive a vote.
I will be closely monitoring your actions regarding these gun control bills through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
