SENATOR BURR’S |
And even with all that common knowledge, it looks like Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) is going squishy. We know this because of a recent message he sent announcing, in so many words, that he’s going soft on civil liberties. Burr’s words bespeak of the worst kind of double talk:
“I believe that addressing gun violence requires a comprehensive approach”
and
“I have supported many common-sense measures to address gun violence”
|
We don’t need a ‘comprehensive approach’, we need rock-solid adherence to the Constitution, specifically due process and the right to keep and bear arms. As we have said, time and time again, any type of compromise with the gun grabbers will be quickly forgotten and they will demand even more the next time they see an opening. This is always their plan, and it’s disheartening to hear Senator Burr pretend not to recognize this.
Ripple Effect Risks 2020
If the President, Senator Burr, and the rest of the GOP do not hold the line, gun rights will not only be in danger for the moment, but the danger will be ever-increasing due to the ripple effect of Trump, Burr, and the rest of the GOP selling out gun owners.
Please, Keep up the Pressure
Unfortunately, the work required of the citizenry to protect their constitutional rights is not yet finished. It’s disappointing that we must continue to redress our representatives— Republicans no less! Yet, we must not let up until we know that our gun rights are safe. Please call and email President Trump, Mitch McConnell, and your Senators one more time. If they keep threatening, we’ll keep petitioning! Below, you’ll find how you can easily contact these public servants and lead them in the right direction.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!

Suggested Subject: “NO on ANY Gun Control“
Dear Senator Burr:
I am writing to make it clear to you that the reasonable, freedom-loving Americans in your voting base have a one-word answer to any attempt to destroy civil rights by way of gun control: NO.
We will not accept any more restrictions on our freedom, regardless of which party it comes from. We will not accept so-called universal background checks, an obvious ploy to create a federal gun registry. We will not accept the destruction of due process with so-called ‘red flag’ gun confiscation, and we won’t accept gun bans of any type. The answer to all of it is, No. Period.
We elected you to uphold the Constitution, not go squishy on the Second Amendment. Your recent correspondence speaks of “a comprehensive approach” and “common-sense measures to address gun violence.” These are not the words of a senator planning to uphold his oath of office. The measures you’re hinting at be as unconstitutional as they would be ineffective. These are not acceptable “compromises.”
You must help the country avoid disaster by immediately pivoting away from gun control, and instead stand firm for the Bill of Rights. I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
