Click here to read about Davis’s meeting with Becky Ceartas, who is the Executive Director of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence, a Bloomberg-funded anti-gun organization. It is reported that Davis met with these anti-Second Amendment activists to discuss Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPO or “Red Flag” laws), expanding background checks, and establishing waiting periods for the purchase of firearms in North Carolina.
Apparently, much that was discussed was in the context of House Bill 86, one of the Left’s anti-gun dream bills. It seems clear from reports that Davis did not meet with this well-funded anti-gun group to debate them, but rather to seek “common ground,” maybe cut a deal, a deal that might benefit Ted Davis and Becky Ceartas, but you can be sure it won’t benefit you.
It’s not a great surprise that Rep. Ted Davis, a GRNC 1-star candidate, is squishy on the Second Amendment. He has certainly proven time and again that he cannot be relied upon in this area—hence the 1-star. However, making nice with some of North Carolina’s most anti-gun rights zealots is quite bold, even for him.
Below, see how you can easily contact Ted Davis and tell him that your gun rights are not for Ted Davis’s Horse Tradin’ (whatever it is he’s after). Also, use the second letter provided to ask the Speaker of the House and the Rules Committee Chairman why one of the other committee chairman is rubbing elbows with anti-gun activists

Dear Representative Davis:
I’ve just learned of your meeting with anti-Second Amendment activist, Becky Ceartas, of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence (NCGV), and I understand you two were rubbing elbows for the express purpose of discussing House Bill 86, a bill introduced by anti-gun extremists in the North Carolina General Assembly.
The fact that you would meet with anti-gun zealots, not to debate them, not to defend gun rights, but presumably to discuss the “efficacy” of one of the Left’s most sought after pieces of anti-gun legislation, is beyond unnerving, it’s outrageous! I understand that you have not always been a friend to gun owners, but it seems there is a far cry between someone who is not a friend and one choosing to be an enemy. You can be sure that gun voters are taking notice.
Ultimately, I am writing to demand that you immediately discard any ideas about making a deal with anti-gun activists, regardless of what Ted Davis might get out of the deal. If there isn’t a loud statement from you denouncing H86 and assuring voters that you will not sell them out on the Second Amendment, you can be sure that gun owners like me will be voting in the Primary Election, and it won’t be for you. In fact, due to such a bold anti-gun move, I can envision an all-out blitz to replace an anti-gun Republican with one that adheres to the Party Platform on this matter.
Do the right thing, Mr. Davis. Denounce gun grabbers like those in the NCGV, denounce any thoughts of working to move H86, and assure voters that you will stand for gun rights moving forward—and then do it. I will be monitoring your words and actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,

Suggested Subject: “Why is Ted Davis Cozying up to Gun Control Activists & H86!”
Dear Speaker Moore and Rep. Lewis:
I’ve just learned of Rep. Ted Davis’s meeting with anti-Second Amendment activist, Becky Ceartas, of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence (NCGV). I understand that Mr. Davis discussed House Bill 86 with her, a bill introduced by anti-gun extremists in the North Carolina General Assembly.
It is outrageous that a sitting Republican Committee Chairman you appointed would meet with anti-gun activists to discuss legislation designed to circumvent the Second Amendment rights of North Carolina citizens. For this reason I must ask you, why is one of the NC House Committee Chairman rubbing elbows with extreme, Bloomberg-funded anti-Second Amendment organizations at all?
I must insist that you answer my question as soon as possible. Also, it would be nice to hear from you—whether or not you support Davis’s warming up to NCGV, and whether you support H86 in any way, as NCGV does, and as Ted Davis seems to.
Representative, please fill me in. I must know if this sort of thing is going to be the new normal, or if we can expect more from NC House Republicans moving into election season. I will be monitoring your words and actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
ALERT WRITERS NEEDED! |
We Need You
In order to continue to offer these critical email alerts in a timely and effective fashion, GRNC needs more alert writers. If you have general writing ability, a desire to defend the Bill of Rights, and a few hours a week, GRNC would love to bring you on board as an important member of our writing team. Note that a few hours a week, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more, is a small trade off for the immense satisfaction you’ll feel after having direct involvement in killing an anti-gun bill, having a hand in expanding gun rights, or stopping short the political career of a gun-grabbing legislator.
