Wake County, Attend The County Commissioners Meeting Tomorrow Night

LET WAKE CO. KNOW YOU WANT YOUR RANGE KEPT OPEN

If you are in Wake County, you need to attend the county commissioners meeting tomorrow night (Monday) Jan. 6 meeting at 5:00 PM in the Wake County Justice Center Board Room #2700

This alert is for a matter in Wake County. Please note that there is a similar issue in Randolph County.

Voice your concerns about keeping the Firearms Education and Training Center open.

Wake County Sheriff Sheriff Gerald M. Baker has taken it upon himself to deny public access to the Wake County Range funded and built for use by Wake County citizens. Sheriff Baker hires a contractor to manage the Firearms Education and Training Center and he recently made the surprise announcement that the public can no longer use this publicly funded facility.

The taxpayers own the Firearms Education and Training Center through Wake County.   The letter for this surprise announcement blames this closing on something about “lack of profitability and a review that fees and funds collected by RSM were not accounted for accurately.”

Wake County claims they will keep the range open. But given that Wake County hasn’t been friendly to gun rights, please keep their feet to the fire.

At this point in time, it is very important that you attend the Jan. 6 meeting at 5:00 PM in the Wake County Justice Center Board Room #2700 and sign up to comment.

It is vitally important that we deliver a loud and clear message that we expect them to do the right thing to keep the range open and expand the number of hours the range is open to the public beyond the current 20 hours per week.

Certain liberty grabber groups claim they are all for gun safety and training while moving in the opposite direction.  Shouldn’t they welcome expanded hours for the public at a publicly funded firearms education and training center?

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE

Suggested Subject: “Keep your promises to expand public access to a range funded by the public

Dear Wake County Commissioners:

I am writing to voice my concerns that the county commissioners will follow up on their promises to gun owners to keep and expand the hours of the public funded Firearms Education and Training Center. This in the aftermath of the rash decision made by Wake County Sheriff Sheriff Gerald M. Baker to close a publicly funded facility to the public.

Those concerned with the issue of gun safety would most certainly want the public to have greater access to this facility, which was originally chartered for public use. I’m demanding that this situation be clarified as soon as possible, and that a full explanation of how this happened in the first place be provided.

I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,
