Legislative sessions don’t last forever. Bills that don’t receive hearings in time die — and the effort to pass them must start over from scratch in the next session. HB 674 has momentum. It has House passage. What it doesn’t have is much time.

Senator Rabon has the authority to move this bill. GRNC members have the power to make sure he hears from us.

I am writing as a North Carolina voter and gun owner to urge you to immediately schedule a committee hearing for HB 674, the Firearms Liberty Act sponsored by Rep. Jay Adams.

 This bill — which would create a lifetime concealed handgun permit option for qualifying North Carolinians — has already passed the House. With only two to three weeks remaining in the session, continued inaction by Senate Rules is tantamount to killing the bill without a vote.

Law-abiding North Carolinians deserve to have their elected representatives vote on this legislation — not watch it expire in committee. I urge you to act now.
