Lee County |
You may remember two weeks ago Lee County Commissioners, after listening to no less than fourteen passionate and articulate Patriots, wisely voted to repeal ALL carry restrictions in parks and county facilities. However, the vote was 4-3 and thus requires a 2nd Vote on Monday October 6th.
A similar proposal to eliminate all restrictions is now being considered by Rockingham County commissioners on the same night. However, even though Rockingham County has a majority of Republicans on their Commission, at least one, enough to kill the proposal, appears to be lukewarm to the idea at best Once again, your emails encouraging the Commissioners to “stiffen their spines” and do the right thing will be necessary.
This measure to rescind carry bans will be voted on during the next meeting to be held Monday, October 6th, at 6:00 PM in both Counties.
Your feedback and support are essential to encourage the Commissioners of both Counties, and remind them where law-abiding gun owners stand on this issue. See what you can do to help the passage of the new ordinances in both Counties below.
LEE – IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED! |
- Email the Lee County Commissioners and encourage them one more time to vote for the proposed changes as submitted. Below you’ll find a copy/paste e-mail list and a copy/paste message to send to them.
- Attend the Lee County Commission Meeting. Once again, we need a large turnout of gun rights supporters as the “gun banners” are aware of this vote and may turn out in force agitating against this expansion of gun rights.

SUGGESTED SUBJECT LINE: Cement Expanded Gun Rights In Lee County October 6th
Dear Lee County Commissioner:
I have just been informed that the Lee County Commission intends to vote for the 2nd and final time in favor of gun rights on October 6th, and I am writing to express my full support for this position.
A patchwork of “gun-free zones” serve only to make accidental felons out of otherwise peaceful, law-abiding citizens, while doing nothing to ensure safety. A vote to open all county facilities and parks to the lawful concealed carry of handguns will express respect for gun rights, and will empower both the citizens and employees of Lee County.
Along with Ashe, Alamance, Cabarrus, Cherokee, Forsyth, and Rowan Counties, all of whom have also opened their facilities to lawful concealed carry, you are now leading by example, and you have inspired even more to follow suit. Your action led Rockingham County Commissioners to also place such a proposal on their Agenda for the same evening as your final vote. A decision to trust Lee County’s citizens, employees, and fellow North Carolinians to act responsibly and lawfully is to be commended. Thank you in advance for doing the right thing this Monday evening, by voting for once again for the proposed changes to your ordinances and allowing lawful concealed carry of handguns in all Lee County Parks and Buildings, including employees of Lee County.
I will continue to monitor this issue via alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Sincerely,
ROCKINGHAM – IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED! |
- Email the Rockingham County Commissioners and encourage them to not be timid or reluctant to vote for the proposed changes as submitted. Below you’ll find a copy/paste e-mail list and a copy/paste message to send to them.
- Attend the Rockingham County Commission Meeting. Once again, we need a large turnout of gun rights supporters as the “gun banners” are aware of this vote and may turn out in force agitating against this expansion of gun rights. Andy Stevens, GRNC Director of Local Government Affairs will speak to the Commissioners at the meeting but he’ll need your support. Additionally, at least one Republican Commissioner is lukewarm to the issue, running for re-election and may require your extra efforts to get him off the fence to do the right thing

SUGGESTED SUBJECT LINE: Rockingham County Voters Look To You To Advance Gun Rights on October 6th
I have just been informed that the Rockingham County Commission intends to vote in favor of gun rights on October 6th, and I am writing to express my full support for this position.
We celebrated on October 1st the one year anniversary of the passage of HB937. This Bill expanded gun rights and privileges across North Carolina, adding places that charge admission, places that serve alcohol, limited campus carry, and other places previously off limits to lawful Concealed Carry Permit Holders. The opponents of this measure were dead certain it would lead to a rash of incidents and accidents….and they were wrong! CHP Permit holders are background checked and collectively the finest people, men and women, young and old, you could ever wish to associate with. They are safe, sane, and sober. They have earned, by their exemplary example, the right and privilege to protect themselves and their loved ones even in your County facilities.
On the other hand, a patchwork of “gun-free zones” serve only to make accidental felons out of these otherwise peaceful, law-abiding citizens, while doing nothing to ensure safety. A vote to open all county facilities and parks to the lawful concealed carry of handguns will express respect for gun rights, and will empower both the citizens and employees of Rockingham County. These friends and neighbors who favor additional gun rights are much more than likely voters..they are committed voters and will reward or punish those standing election based on vote tonight. For you two Commissioners currently on the Board and running for re election, promoting gun rights, expanding freedom, and placing your trust in the citizens and employees of Rockingham County is a winning combination. Don’t let the opportunity slip by.
Along with Alamance, Ashe, Cabarrus, Cherokee, Forsyth, Lee, and Rowan Counties, all of whom have also opened their facilities to lawful concealed carry, you too can lead others by your example, inspiring even more to follow suit. A decision to trust Rockingham County’s citizens, employees, and fellow North Carolinians to act responsibly and lawfully is to be commended. Thank you in advance for doing the right thing this Monday evening, by voting for the proposed changes to your ordinances and allowing lawful concealed carry of handguns in all Rockingham County Parks and Buildings, including the hard working employees of Rockingham County.
I will continue to monitor this issue via alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
