GRNC Alert 11-26-14: Lee County is Poised to Slide Backwards

Elections have consequences, especially for freedom haters.

Last October, Lee County voted to remove restrictions that prevented law-abiding concealed carry permittees from carrying their weapons on state-owned property. Lee County wasn’t the first; Alamance, Cherokee, Rowan and Cabarrus Counties have all done the same. The Lee County vote of 4 to 3 was strictly along party lines.

The “new” Lee County Board of Commissioners sadly saw the election of two anti-gun politicians in the recent election, Timothy Sloan and Larry Oldham. These two newcomers and the two incumbent anti-gun Commissioners will be led by the newly-crowned Chair of the Commission Amy Dalrymple (herself an anti-gunner). Together, they have promised to make good on their anti-freedom beliefs by trying to reinstate Lee County’s anti-gun laws.

Yes, you read that right. One of the first acts of this newly elected Board of Commissioners will be to rescind the freedoms of law-abiding citizens in their county. These newly-elected Commissioners claim to be pro-second-amendment, but it’s clear that their talk is cheap.

It’s time to send a clear message to the Lee County commissioners that there will be consequences if they make good on this terrible policy.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!

Dear Commissioners,

I am writing in regard to the proposed reinstatement of Lee County’s antiquated and dangerous anti-gun laws that were repealed last October.

Reinstating these laws is dangerous to law-abiding citizens of Lee County, and to its visitors. It also shows a wanton brazenness of the new Board of Commissioners to so eagerly usurp the hard-won freedoms that generations of Americans have fought to protect.

Make no mistake: if these laws are reinstated, I will go out of my way to not patronize businesses in Lee County. A county with a government so bent on curbing freedoms within publicly owned buildings does not deserve the benefit of my family’s patronage.

I will be following the Board of Commissioner’s actions closely through alerts issued by Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,

Additional Skills Needed for the GRNC Alert Team

A person is needed to expand the GRNC alert team.  Good writing skills is a must along with the ability to coordinate with personnel at various levels.  Knowledge of HTML and ability to manipulate HTML style emails on the code level.  Strong understanding of desktop publishing concepts and Microsoft Office tools.  Person should be able to translate legal, political, technical and firearms jargon into layman’s terms and make the public care about the issue.  Familiarity of a mass emailing system like Constant Contact is a nice to have.
