GRNC Alert 03-24-16. HAYWOOD COUNTY CONSIDERS GUN BAN

HAYWOOD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER GUN BAN

A public hearing will be held on the ordinance at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 28 in the Haywood County Courtroom of the Historic Courthouse.

At this meeting the Haywood County Commissioners will be deciding on a new ordinance to BAN ALL OPEN AND CONCEALED CARRY in and on any County owned or controlled property. This ordinance will reverse regulations dating back to 1995 that currently allow citizens to carry. Some commissioners falsely claimed that the increase in gun ownership has created an unsafe atmosphere. Really? All this time the statistics prove that more crime happens in defense free (gun free) zones.

You can read a copy of the proposed new ordinance at this link: http://bit.ly/1RA6x1U

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE

“DON’T TURN LAW ABIDING CITIZENS INTO CRIMINALS AND DON’T CREATE DEFENSE FREE ZONES IN HAYWOOD CTY.”

Dear Haywood County Commissioners:

I urge you to vote against the ordinance you are considering for a proposed concealed weapons and open carry/display of weapons. Creating “Defense Free” zones. The stated reason for this ordinance is based on flawed logic trying to legitimize the proposed ordinance because of an increase in legal gun ownership is wrong. Passing it will make criminals out of otherwise careful and lawful citizens in a world that gets more dangerous every day. The events in San Bernadino, Paris and Brussels have taught us nothing if we don’t realize and agree that all of those victims were disarmed due to regulations just like the ordinance you’re considering. Defense Free Zones are an affront to all legal gun owners and only help criminals identify easy pickings.

Sincerely,
