MOORE AND LEWIS NEED TO MOVE ON HB 1148 AND SB 89 |
As you already know from prior GRNC alerts, legislation to bring sheriffs’ offices into compliance with pistol purchase permit laws is currently being stalled in the house. We urge you to call Representatives Tim Moore (R-111, Cleveland) and David R. Lewis (R-53, Harnett) between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM today and demand that they move HB 1148, and to move the language in SB 89 for purchase permits.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED! |
- PHONE REPRESENTATIVE TIM MOORE: (919) 733-3451. Please make phone calls today, Wednesday, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If you can’t call during those times, please call when you can.
Suggested phone message:
Hello, my name is ___________. I am calling because I am a North Carolina gun rights supporter, and I’ve just learned that the administrative medical-reporting fix has been left in S89, where it is now likely to languish and die. I am demanding that Representative Moore have house bill 1148 heard, and that he find a way to return the medical-reporting fix to a bill that will receive a hearing and a vote. I will continue to pay very close attention to this issue through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina. Thank you. - PHONE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID R. LEWIS: (919) 715-3015. Please make phone calls today, Wednesday, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If you can’t call during those times, please call when you can.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE TO REPS. LEWIS & MOORE
Suggested Subject: “Sunset of PPP Medical-Reporting Form Must Receive a Floor Vote“
Dear Representatives Lewis and Moore:
There’s an immediate need to sunset the antiquated paper medical reporting requirement for pistol purchase permits once the records are digitized. Various sheriff departments around the state have been using this antiquated reporting requirement as an excuse to delay pistol purchase permits for extended, and unlawful lengths of time. Because of this, I am insisting that you give HB 1148 a hearing and your full support, and that you also find a way to move the language from the now-languishing SB 89 for these much-needed updates to the pistol purchase permit process.
I will be paying very close attention to this issue through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.
Respectfully,
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! |
As you know, GRNC is an all volunteer force. As such, we are looking for volunteers in a couple of areas:
- WEB DEVELOPMENT
Experience in web development to include HTML, CSS & Java Scripting. If interested, contact GRNC President using the following contact form: http://www.grnc.org/contact
- ALERT WRITING
Solid writing skills, ability to translate legal, political, technical and firearms jargon into layman’s terms and make the public care about the issue. Ability to manipulate HTML style emails on the code level is a nice to have. If interested, please contact GRNC using this e-mail address: alert@grnc.org
If you have these skills, you can help the Second Amendment fight by enhancing and expanding GRNC’s presence, ensuring our message is received broadly in these modern times.
Don’t let your talents go to waste, as you could be the difference between gun-rights advancements and gun-rights losses.
Be the person who says, “I did something!” Instead of the person who says, “I should have done something.”
