‘Same-Day Registration:’
VOTE EARLY
If
you, a friend or family member missed the deadline to register to vote, it is
not too late! “Same-Day Registration” enables you to register and vote in a
single day *provided* you vote early at one of your county’s early voting
centers. You may do so up to November 1.
Do
you have friends or family members who are ambivalent, or “just didn’t have
time” to register and vote? Put a “Remember in November” voter guide into their
hands and take them to the polls.
OBAMA NATION?
IT’S UP TO YOU!
From GRNC President Paul Valone:
I
am acutely aware that gun owners are, at best, ambivalent about John McCain.
Among his transgressions, he subscribed to the thinly disguised anti-gun agenda
promoted by billionaire Andrew McKelvey and his little project called
“Americans for Gun Safety,” supporting, among other things, restrictions on gun
shows.
Unlike
the NRA, GRNC and its PAC, the GRNC Political Victory Fund, will never endorse
John McCain. He has far too often opposed the interests of Second Amendment
voters.
That
said, even Bill Clinton didn’t represent the threat to gun rights that Barack
Obama does. We can debate forever whether we should adopt the “lesser of all
evils” approach, in which one supports McCain, or the “purist” approach, in
which one might vote for Libertarian Bob Barr, or perhaps no one at all.
Yet
gun owners are forced to contemplate the possibility of not only an Obama
presidency; not only of a liberal-run Congress directed by Nancy Pelosi and
Harry Reid; but also a Democrat super-majority in the Senate
(which could include the loss of Elizabeth Dole, by the way). The
latter would mean Democrats could over-run any Republican attempt to filibuster
anti-gun legislation. Translation: With sufficient willpower on the part of
anti-gun Democrats, there would be no anti-gun legislation we could stop.
For
the first time in recent memory, North
Carolina is a swing state in the presidential race.
But beyond even the national race, if North Carolina goes to Obama, liberals
such as Senate President Pro Tem Marc Basnight (GRNC *) will consider
it a mandate to go after your rights.
Get this right:
IF OBAMA WINS, YOU WILL
EAT GUN CONTROL…
… and probably lots of it.
So
personally, I am throwing my support behind McCain. They have asked
us to help their “72 hour program” by manning call centers. In the interest of
keeping my country intact long enough to effect the changes we need…
…I
will reluctantly support McCain.

GRNC-PVF CANDIDATE
RECOMMENDATIONS
As
a rule, GRNC-PVF does not make blanket “endorsements” of candidates, preferring
instead more limited “recommendations for effective voting strategies.” Since
GRNC-PVF only focuses ONLY on contested races in which gun voters can make a
difference, the lack of a recommendation should not reflect negatively on
candidates in other races. For example PHIL BERGER, R-Guilford/Rockingham,
****, is the most consistent gun rights supporter in the Senate, but is
uncontested and is therefore not listed below.
