SCHOOL SAFETY:
A POSSIBLE TROJAN HORSE

Sources tell us that a school safety bill is being viewed as a soft target for surreptitious gun control amendments…

Trojan Horse of Opportunity
The ‘Governor’s Elect Committee on School Safety’ has resulted in a bill, HB 76. As currently written, it does not contain anti-gun language, but some have said that certain politicians in Raleigh will attempt to change that as the bill works its way through the process. Nowadays, anything coming out of a governmental body labeled for “safety” is probably viewed as a perfect vehicle for sneaking in some gun control. We cannot let that happen.

Should an incident occur, there is nothing “safe” about having stripped the immediate First Reactors of their ability to protect school children in a practical and effective fashion. Unfortunately, the world we live in is becoming increasingly Orwellian, so “safety” just doesn’t mean what it used to mean. Therefore, pro-gun citizens, those who genuinely want children to be protected, must keep diligent watch over their politicians to make sure counterproductive, and worse, draconian amendments are not slipped into bills like HB 76. If anything, we should be insisting that schools be made safer (the real kind of safer) through pro-gun amendments. This is where you come in.

Help to Stop Sneaky Gun Control
Please take a few minutes to contact the Republicans on the House Rules Committee and let them know that you expect all anti-gun amendments to be voted down during the committee meetings for HB 76. This is critical not only to keep HB 76 from making schools even softer targets than they already are (since they are gun-free zones), but also to keep the committee members from infringing further on individual rights in general. Who knows what sort of anti-gun amendments they may plan to slip in this bill?

Below, see how you can easily send a copy/paste email message to the Republican members of the House Rules Committee. If we put a little heat on these committee members, odds are, they’ll see the light.

Suggested Subject: "HB 76: Squash Any and All Anti-gun Amendments"

Dear Representative:

I am writing because I just learned that the House Rules Committee will be holding hearings on HB 76, the bill authored as a result of the Governor’s Elect Committee on School Safety.

A bill named for “school safety” may seem the perfect vehicle for anti-gun politicians, and those willing to “look the other way,” to surreptitiously slip anti-gun language past the people. Of course, anti-gun amendments would only put school children in more danger, while further infringing on the rights of gun owners in our state. This would be entirely unacceptable.

With these things in mind, I want to make it clear that, with help from Grass Roots North Carolina, the people of North Carolina are closely watching the House Rules Committee’s proceedings, and you are expected to swiftly and enthusiastically squash any and all anti-gun amendments that may be proposed.

HB 76 must not be used as a vehicle for gun control, clandestine or otherwise, and I’m relying on you to make sure it isn’t. I will be monitoring your actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,
